Waiting Families

Our hearts go out to you as you make the difficult decision of what is best for you and your child. May wisdom, strength and peace be with you in whatever decision you make.

To help you decide if you want to make an adoption plan with us, the following is a little bit about our lives. We met our junior year of high school in Wisconsin and have been together ever since. We are best friends and live life with a lot of laughter and love for each other. We both have a special enjoyment of the outdoors and like to spend time doing all kinds of outdoor activities; hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing or just taking an evening stroll together.

We both also enjoy our professions. Aaron is a mechanical engineer and works to improve transportation and society’s impact on the environment. I work part-time in public policy helping to make the criminal justice system more fair, effective and less of a cost to taxpayers.

While we enjoy our professions, family life is still our first priority. We make time for each other and do not work late or on weekends. We also enjoy spending time with our extended family. This summer we took a kayak trip with Aaron’s parents and siblings. We kayaked around the San Juan Islands, watched seals playing in the water, and stayed the night at campsites on the islands. We also got together with my family for several weddings over the last year, other special events and just to spend time together.

While we enjoy our extended families, we are very excited about expanding our immediate family. We have been talking about possibly adopting since we were in college. After unsuccessfully trying to conceive a biological child after we were married, we began the process to adopt and we are very excited!  We have the love and support of a large group of family and friends (some who have adopted children or are adopted themselves) who are just as excited as we are and ready to help us along the way with the joys and challenges of parenthood. This will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family!! To make more time for the new addition to our family, I will take several months to a year off of work to be at home with the baby before possibly returning to work part-time. Aaron has saved a large amount of vacation days to also spend time at home.

We want you to know that we will always hold you in our hearts, honoring and remembering you and the love you have for your child. We are also open to exploring on-going contact in addition to the agency required letters for 5 years.
